SANTA ROSA PLUM ESPALIER

I got to work today and finished the wire grid frame to support the Santa Rosa plum pollinator necessary for the Black Amber and Burbank plums growing nearby. New shoots trained into a fan-shaped espalier against the fence makes for easy maintenance.

Santa Rosa plums are sweet with a tangy centre; ideal for jam making also. It will be interesting to see how well all the newly planted trees do. With a good variety of apples, pears, plums, citrus, passionfruit, grapes and berries, we look forward to fruit all year round once they establish themselves.

  1. Hi there!
Wondering how your espaliered plum is doing many years later!?!

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Sarah,
It was doing really well. Unfortunately, it became necessary to remove it before any more damage to the trellis. We have two other plum trees and these are soaring upward at a good pace. Little plums appearing now. Do you grow them also?
